Dirt Divas Funduro @ Comrie Croft: Photos, results, and a word from the team...

We had the most fantastic day at Comrie Croft two weekends ago, hosting our first ever Funduro. The sun even made an appearance for what felt like the first time this summer!

THE MORNING: COACHING...

The day started with coaching on the trails, with participants split into 3 groups based on ability levels. As with all of our events, we wanted to keep these sessions fun and flexible, so some of these groups changed as riders found confidence on features and wanted to tackle more challenging terrain.

The stoke level was set to high and whooping and cheering could be heard throughout the Croft as riders tried features they'd never ridden before, felt their bike leave the ground for the first time, and had eureka moments of " I can do this"!

Before long, it was time for lunch, with some incredible offerings from the Croft's Tea Garden. Possibly the best cake in Perthshire? (Controversial we know!) Riders relaxed in the sunshine, catching up with old friends, and making new ones - it's always so good to see the friendship groups that have came about from our events! If that's you, please let us know.

THE AFTERNOON: RACE TIME!

We use the word "race", and while we did have some amazing prizes, and the riders absolutely flew down the trails - this was all for fun! We wanted to give participants a taster of what an enduro event is all about, how it run, and have a chance to be timed on sections of some of Scotland's best trails.

So what is an enduro? It's a mountain bike race with "stages". These are mostly downhill and are the timed part of the race, so the aim is to go fast. There are also "transfer sections" when you ride between the stages, these are not timed, so are very sociable as you ride with your mates. The winner is the rider with the fastest combined time from each stage.

The riders absolutely smashed it! Comrie Croft is technical wee trail centre - the blues can feel at times more like the reds, and the reds have some black features too! We had two versions of the race: the "Full" and the "Lite", with riders choosing between 3 blue stages only, or 2 blue stages plus 2 red stages. About 50% of the riders chose to do the full race!

THE RESULTS!

You can see the timings for all riders below, but our winners for the day were:

Full Race: 1st place - Natalie Wood, Lite: 1st place - Elaine Ryrie

2nd place - Amelia Atrill 2nd place - Julie Mckechnie

3rd place - Lorraine Simpson Allan 3rd place - Briony McKenzie
